i'm back in seattle. to my pleasant surprise, my garden did not dry out and grew very nicely. there are berries and roses on bushes!
the trip back was an adventure. gi and i had to spend the night in the London airport. at around 11pm we realized that all of the seats that we could possibly nap on, were taken by more enterprising travelers. so we wondered the halls looking for a nook and luckily we stumbled upon the kids' play area. i constructed an enclosed space for us with the foam geometrical shapes that the room was filled with. they resembled soft giant Lego pieces that lend themselves nicely to staking. soon after we got cozy, several other families joined us. i felt like we were the homesteaders, protective of our territory as the newcomers began to disassemble our walls to create their own encampments. i watched them with one eye open as i pretended to be asleep. soon they were all snoring in harmony and the night passed in this group slumber at the airpport. a worker woke us up nicely at 4:45 am, telling us that the room was opening up for children and we had to clear out. it was the best spot to sleep.
here i am sleeping in our luxury foam room. the play area homesteader.
the room now filled with the snoring newcomers. our wall picked apart. the light was on all night.
