Marc Ecko, a graffiti artist, fashion designer and recently creator of "Getting-Up: Contents Under Pressure," a video game about graffiti, published a video that shows him tagging Air Force One (the jet responsible for transporting President Bush and his staff around the world). Ecko also published a video explaining why he tagged the jet (in the name of American freedom).

The tagging video was just exposed as being an expensive hoax. It seems that Ecko rented a jet in LA, painted it to look like Air Force One and made the two videos. One video is of the tagging, and another with his statement about why he tagged Air Force One. I still give him props for the hoax, but it is interesting how earnest he looks in his personal statement and how two faced that makes him seem now that the hoax is out. Was this just shameless promotion or is his message more effective because it turns out that he never broke the law?

Great example for class. Shows the confusion between counter culture and consumer culture...is Marc Ecko "still free?"
