Killing Ants

With this heat wave, the ants woke up and attacked my kitchen counters.

Here they are drinking the Kool-Aid. Good thing they can't read fine print.

Amazing how orderly they are. Look at the way they stand side by side. And see on the right where they march off and march in?

I've been watching them as they come to feast on the deadly Borax mixture. They come in a thin file from the pipe under the tub in the bathroom all the way to the kitchen counter, drink and march back. Within an hour of putting down the lure, the five ants on my counter turned into an army. Somehow they communicated the message back home and the long line of them stretched from the tub directly to the source.

Amazing creatures. I feel bad killing them off, but I have to defend the homestead. Tried experimenting with making different shapes with the liquid.
