How cool is this?
This was in SMU campus newsletter today. I like working at a place that cares about and takes action to protect its population of deer, water fowl, frogs and other creatures on campus!
"And speaking of sustainability efforts Have you noticed the "Twin Lakes" by the 6th Avenue campus entrance? These ponds — the result of collaboration between Saint Martin’s Abbey and the City of Lacey — will handle storm water run-off generated from both the SMU campus and a large area of central Lacey. The ponds are designed to detain and treat storm water that eventually passes through Abbey-owned wetlands and on to Woodland Creek. This act of environmental stewardship lessens the impact on the salmon that spawn in the wetlands.
Currently, the Abbey and the City of Lacey are working with landscape professionals to prepare a landscape design that will beautify the area around the ponds. This plan will feature native plants and will take into consideration the large population of deer, water fowl, frogs and other creatures on campus."
If you look closely through the trees, you can see the lakes that the article is talking about (as seen from my office window).
My office with my custom painted office supply organizer and a picture of the Golden Gardens' Dreamer on the desktop. Oh and if you look closely, you will see the "Virgin" with a baby and also a St. Joan of Arc relic.
and this is another attempt at capture the entire office. Small but cute.
