Happy B-day Gi! We had a fun party with excellent friends, a ton of sushi, buckets of wine and Hairspray (the original) projected on the big screen in our living room (one of the perks of being a grad student at the UW). I was hoping to show the movie outside, but Di and I set it up twice and twice as soon as we set up, it started to rain.

I only just recently saw Hairspray for the first time. I remember that back in the 80s, I snubbed it as a too mainstream John Waters movie. It's a great satire though and I don't get why anyone would want to remake the original. It's really perfect the way it is. I can't see how John Travolta can be any better than Divine in the role of Mrs. Turnblaut.

The next day we walked over to one of my favorite P-patches on Mt. Baker. I accidentally tore out a little bundle of runaway mint. oops.
