Gi showed me this incredible ad for a Soviet themed hostel in Germany. Remember the Soviet call to Pioneers to be ready? -- Pioner Bood Gotov! --Vsegda Gotov! That's what the German voice says when you run your mouse over the man's portrait on the website.


I read an intriguing review of Petropolis in HEEB and was sucked into the book from the first page. The story is about a girl from Soviet Siberia who ends up in the US. It's kind of a dark comedy with a lot of vivid, humorous and disturbing details about Soviet life and immigrant life. If you need a summer book to read, I recommend.
