there are two chickadees humping on the fence outside the window.

it's spring but feels like summer. i was outside digging and planting this weekend. the fennel bulbs, squash, savoy cabbage and lettuce are in. i also dug up a lupin from the empty school lot across the street. not sure if it will make it, i planted it in the yard but it looks pretty limp now.

i had spotted the lupins behind the school fence and asked the construction worker if i could dig one up. he had spotted the flower too and was going to take it home but didn't have a container. so i got a container for him and we dug up two lupins, one for me and one for him. he told me it was illegal (even though the plants would be mowed down for grass seeding), so the operatin was quick and silent. we were two sneaky scavengers mining for hidden treasures in a construction zone.
