note to self: take a child to fly a kite

gi and i saw the cutest thing in Magnuson park on Kite Hill. A little girl, about (7 or 8 yrs. old) was running down the hill full speed, holding a kite laughing and yelling, "I’m doing it!"

gi and i watched her get to the bottom of the hill where the kite began to sag, but she tugged on the string so skillfully getting it back in sync with the wind. i was amazed how this little girl knew exactly what to do and the physics of it all didn't stump her for a second.

after getting the kite out of sag mode, the girl turned around and ran back up the hill almost as fast as she ran down, kite above and behind her the whole time. When she got up to the top of the hill she ran up to her mom shouting, "that was amazing!" they were both laughing and gave each other a high five.

it was the sweetest thing ever. the girl's "I’m doing it!" rang in my head the rest of the day.
