speaking of spirits--
here is the virgin mary toast that was sold on Ebay for $28,000 or so yesterday. An online casino bought it -- '"It's a part of pop culture that's immediately and widely recognisable," spokesman Monty Kerr told The Miami Herald.' quoted form here
It seems that this news item was covered by at least 334 news sources. not too shabby of a gamble for the online casino that bought it. one interesting thing about this toast is that the details are a little different in different articles. for example, some report that the toast was about 20 years old, but others write that the toast was only aged for 10. the same with the bid $$, some say $28,000 while others report $35,814.79 etc.
in all cases the miraculous thing is that the toast had no mold! Not a spec of fungus had grown on it over 10-20 years of its life in a plastic box cushioned with cottom balls. as many cynics point out however, what in the world would ever grow on wonder bread and kraft?
here is a quote from BBC --
"More than 1.6 million people logged onto the site to look at the edible wonder.
Diane, from Florida, US, said she kept the sandwich in a box for 20 years, but then decided to sell it.
"I think it's time now, time to get rid of it and share it with the world. I feel like I'm doing something that she wants me to do," she said."well this just proves it, the "virgin" is awake. the below findings are no coincidence. i predict major changes ahead.
