this is something cool that I just found out about --
a student told me about this yesterday. he had actually just been part of a flashmob. he got 5 guys from his "house" (that's fraternity house) and 12 guys from other houses to do it. they all dressed up in purple husky shirts and ran together for what sounds like a group hug and primal scream of frat guys in the middle of campus during lunch time.
this is how the Flash Mob blog defines a Flashmob:
"Flash mobs are sudden gatherings of people at a predetermined location at a predetermined time. People in flash mobs usually perform according to a written script, then disperse quickly. Flash mobs can be for many purposes but most groups stick to having fun."
i am very excited about the possibilities of this. what if this happened on on September 11th, during the September Project (see side panel for link). David had this idea to have people converge via cell phones, take photographs and broadcast them via the Internet and other ways, like spalyed out on the ground in a quilt, in patches all over the country.
what if we organized to do a mass flashmob photo shoot on September 11, this then could be broadcast all over the Internet for people all over the world to see. We, as people who live in America ( and I don't mean only "Americans" ) need to show the world that we are not what the media show us to be. We are actually thinking and loving and critical beings. We don't all willingly go along with the greed and cruelty of our leaders.
this could be the next Hands Across America to get Bush.Inc the hell out of office! Ooops, that's my opinion and does not represent anyone else.
